The person behind Kaddo
Kaddo is created and maintained by Julian Dario Luna Patiño — a Cloud Solutions Architect Lead and AWS Community Builder who creates technical content at TryCatch.tv, researches technology innovation management, and builds developer communities.
It grew out of years spent designing software architectures, leading development teams and documenting systems — and from one recurring frustration: the knowledge that explains why a system is the way it is keeps getting lost, while the code lives on. Kaddo is the attempt to make that knowledge a living, navigable part of the project instead.
Why Kaddo exists
Projects rarely degrade because the code ages; they degrade because knowledge scatters across meetings, chats, tickets and docs that quietly fall out of date. AI makes the gap sharper — an agent without context builds on assumptions rather than understanding.
Kaddo’s answer is to keep the minimum sufficient knowledge alive next to the code and package it deterministically for LLMs and agents, so a project can evolve with both humans and AI without turning development into bureaucracy.
Kaddo applies Knowledge Driven Development principles to AI-assisted software development. It did not invent KDD — it operationalizes those principles for the era of LLMs and agents. See Knowledge Driven Development.
How it has grown
Kaddo started as a humble Guard-Lite drift detector and grew into a full knowledge loop —
scan → context → understand → agents → roadmap → work items → ownership → guard → explain —
organized around the Business → Product → Tech → Delivery layers, where knowledge is
recognized by meaning rather than by file names. The ideas behind it are shared, taught and
discussed openly through TryCatch.tv.
The vision
A world where every repository remembers why its code exists — where humans and AI build on real, observable knowledge, and where the decisions that matter stay human.
